About Chris Barron

35 Years. Thousands of Performances. One Passion.

A professional performer, qualified solicitor, and founder of Counterpoint — creative business advisory for artists.

Chris Barron

The Beginning

Chris began his professional career on stage at the age of 14. By the time most people are finishing university, he had already performed across the United States, trained at the prestigious drama programme at Syracuse University in New York, and appeared in a major regional production of Oklahoma on the professional circuit.

New York & Beyond

After New York — which included fronting a country covers band in Pennsylvania and a production of Grease in Brazil — Chris moved to Europe, where he spent years performing in some of the continent's most prestigious musical theatre productions.

Miss Saigon. Beauty and the Beast. Tanz der Vampire. Starlight Express. All at West End and Broadway-equivalent level, across Germany's premier venues.

Music & Recording

During his time in Europe, Chris founded and fronted an original band — self-releasing material and performing club and festival dates across Germany and England. He later contributed to recording sessions for Flashdance the Musical in London's West End.

Building Something New

Chris stepped away from full-time touring in 2008 to focus on family. From 2012 to 2019 he ran two successful theatre schools, passing on three decades of craft to a new generation of performers.

In 2018, he added an unexpected string to his bow: law school. He qualified as a solicitor in 2023, specialising in entertainment and creative business law. He is the founder of Counterpoint — a creative business advisory helping artists, musicians, writers, and filmmakers build sustainable careers.

Back on Stage

Today Chris performs as a solo artist across three distinct show formats — a mixed contemporary covers show, a dedicated country set with one of the UK's most comprehensive Garth Brooks repertoires, and an in-depth R.E.M. tribute experience built for genuine fans.

He also writes a regular column on the legal and business side of country music for Country Music People magazine.
